Last Parkway Piece Opening

The final piece of the Herb Gray Parkway is opening this weekend.

The $1.4-billion project began in August 2011 and is 11 km in length with six lanes of traffic.

The extension of Hwy. 401 runs from the North Talbot Rd. bridge to the E.C. Row Expressway and then parallel to E.C. Row Expressway and Ojibway Parkway. The last piece of Hwy. 401 between Hwy. 3 and Ojibway Pkwy. opens Saturday.

"We're quite excited to see that section open, I know folks have been extremely patient during the construction of the parkway which stated in 2011 and this is a significant milestone for us," says Garfield Dales with the Ministry of Transportation.

The landscaping and other minor work will be completed in spring 2016.
