Thompson Scores Twice In Maroons' Win

A strong third period gave the Chatham Maroons a 5-2 win over the Lambton Shores Predators on Thursday.

The Predators drew first blood with a goal early in the first period, but the Maroons tied the game 1-1 going into the second. Despite an unsuccessful penalty shot by Lambton Shores, they were able to take a 2-1 lead at the beginning of the third.

However, the Maroons gained their momentum in the final frame to score four consecutive goals for the win.

Maroons head coach Tyler Roeszler says he was pleased with his team's performance, including forward Austin Thompson who led Chatham with two goals.

"Thompson is a kid who just continues to get better and stronger as we go on here," says Roeszler. "[He's part of] our top line and they led the way tonight."

The Maroons return to the ice on Saturday to take on the Strathroy Rockets at 7:30pm.
