Catholic Board Progresses With Labour Deals

The St. Clair Catholic District School Board is just a couple weeks away from finalizing new contracts for their elementary school teachers.

Board officials have announced they've reached a deal with local Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association reps, after an agreement with the province was ratified in September.

Director of Education Dan Parr says labour disputes always test professional relationships, but their partnership with OECTA remains intact.

"At the local level, hard work, tough negotiations and mutual respect led to our getting a deal," he says.

The board is expected to ratify the deal on December 8. The SCCDSB has also ratified a new provincial deal with CUPE, which represents staff positions like secretaries, custodians, and educational assistants.
