Local Elementary Teachers, Board Ratify Contract

A new contract agreement between local public elementary teachers and the Lambton-Kent District School Board has been ratified by both parties.

The teachers ratified the deal at a meeting in Brigden, while the board did the same at its meeting Tuesday.

Lambton-Kent Elementary Teachers Federation President Ron Rivait says the contract covers 900 full and part time teachers.

He says it's a culmination of over 15 months of negotiations.

Contract details are not being released until all members are notified of the specifics.

Rivait says an updated collective agreement should be finalized in the new year dealing with pay grades, maternity benefits and other items.
