Retired Teacher Facing Sex Charges

Chatham-Kent police have arrested a retired violin teacher in connection with historical sex offences involving young girls.

Police say they have charged 70-year-old Claude Eric Trachy of Chatham with ten counts of sexual assault, five counts of sexual interference, and two counts of sexual exploitation dating back to the early 1980s.

Chatham-Kent police Constable Lisa Rodger says Trachy was self-employed as a strings teacher in Chatham for more than 50 years.

"We were notified earlier this month and we have been investigating since then," says Rodger, adding they are now asking for any other potential victims to come forward. "The more information we get, the better so that we can come up with a better case."

Trachy has been released from custody with conditions pending a future court date.

Police are urging anyone with information to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
