Jane Bryce New LKDSB Chair

The new chair of the Lambton Kent District School Board says the changes in the education system will always be something trustees deal with.

Jane Bryce, trustee for north and east Lambton, believes the board is doing a good job of managing that change.

"It's something that is with us constantly, I think it is very important that we are not looking backwards saying 'this isn't how we used to do it,'" she says. "We want to make sure that our students get the very best not only in teaching and in their schools and academic work but that they get the help they need for their good health and well being."

There could be a difficult few years ahead for the board with potential school closures in a number of areas.

However, Bryce says board is trying to ease parental concerns as much as possible, by making sure everyone is aware of the student numbers that are forcing the changes and carrying them out in ways that takes into account the stress and anxiety that comes with school consolidations.
