Full-time UWSA students have voted 52% in favour while 46% of graduate students support the move.
Results still aren't in for part-time students. Those are expected later this afternoon.
The referendum won't be official until full results are presented to the University of Windsor Students' Alliance board.
SPS Board Chair Kelly Ash said the decision followed discussions with Acting Chief Mike Federico and aligns with practices at other police services.
