Free Christmas Dinner Today

Hundreds of people in the Chatham-Kent community will enjoy a home cooked Christmas dinner today thanks to some generous donors.

For the last ten years, the Community Cares Christmas Dinner has been held at the WISH Centre.

Organizer Brent Ripley says even the leftovers don't go to waste.

"Everything that is donated, even that we don't use, goes to the soup kitchens that night," says Ripley. "We set up tables before we leave, they come right out and pick up everything. We separate it all and by the time we leave the soup kitchen has all their stuff."

The free dinner runs from 4pm-6pm. Last year they also delivered over 150 takeouts to people who are unable to leave their homes.
