Canadian Flag Vandalized in Wheatley

Chatham-Kent police are looking for the vandals responsible for disrespecting the Canadian flag.

Constable Renee Cowell says sometime over the weekend the rope to the flag at Wheatley Public School was cut.

"The Canadian flag is a symbol of pride, unity, honour and sacrifice," says Cowell. "Those responsible clearly demonstrated their lack of respect for our flag and our country."

Cowell says the flag was found on the ground by staff Monday morning.

School officials say they haven't discussed the incident or explained the gravity of the act to students.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
