Van Heck Named New Chair

A new face will be heading meetings of the St. Clair Catholic District School Board.

John Van Heck has been acclaimed as the new chairperson of the area's Catholic board. This after former Chair Carol Bryden nominated him for the position.

Van Heck says he's humbled by the new title, and is looking forward to the challenges he anticipates will come with decreased provincial funding.

"We need to take that money and make it seamless for our students," he says. "They shouldn't suffer. We need to rethink the system and in unique ways for 2015. Sometimes that involves thinking outside the box."

Michelle Parks was also acclaimed and re-elected as vice chair of the SCCDSB.
