Busiest Canada Post Day in History

There's just over one week to Christmas and holiday cards and packages are being delivered.

Canada Post's Eugene Knapick says you still have some time to get your items in the mail if you are sending them within Canada.

He says today in particular is going to be a busy one for mail carriers.

"We're looking at the 14th of December as being our busiest delivery day this year, and maybe our busiest delivery day ever. We're estimating that we're going to be delivering 3,400 parcels per minute."

Knapick says over the holiday season, they're expecting to handle about one billion pieces of mail.

He says they are expecting to see a 20 per cent increase in parcel volume over last year due to a hike in online shopping.
