UPDATE: ATV Rider Fighting For His Life (Gallery)

A 16-year-old Chatham boy is fighting for his life in a London hospital after an ATV crashed head-on into an SUV.

Police say the ATV was eastbound on Riverview Dr. near Merritt Ave. shortly after 5pm yesterday when it crossed into the westbound lane and crashed head-on into an oncoming Chevrolet Tahoe.

Both ATV riders from Chatham, a 16-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man, were transported to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. The 16-year-old was later transferred to Victoria Hospital in London with life-threatening injuries, where he remains in critical condition.

The 54-year-old Tilbury man driving the SUV and a 76-year-old female passenger from Chatham were also taken to hospital for medical attention.

The crash remains under investigation.
