Record High Temperatures Over Weekend

The temperature in Windsor on Saturday and Sunday broke long standing records, according to Environment Canada.

The weather agency says on Saturday, the temperature reached 16 C (61 F) surpassing the previous record of 13.9 C (57 F), which was recorded on December 12, 1946.

Then on Sunday, the temperature reached 15.6 C (60 F), beating the record of 13.2 C (55.8 F), which was recorded on December 13, 1991.

Arnold Ashton, a severe weather meteorologist with Environment Canada, says the area will see some colder days, but there's a chance the weather could get even milder as Christmas approaches.

"We're just locked in this pattern, as I say, and all the low pressure systems are being drawn up into northern Ontario, and in effect syphons pretty mild Gulf Stream air up into our area," he says. "I would say there's a very high probability of a green Christmas."

Ashton says the record low for December 13 was -17.8 C (0 F), which was set in 1962.
