Two Arrests, One Man

Chatham-Kent police arrested a Blenheim man twice in one day.

A vehicle was reported stolen from John St. in Blenheim yesterday around 9:30am. About three hours later, officers found a man with the reportedly stolen vehicle outside the Emergency Room at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.

The 35-year-old man was charged with theft of a motor vehicle and possession of property obtained by a crime. He was released with a future court date.

However, police say when the man charged earlier in the day for allegedly stealing a vehicle returned to the hospital for medical attention, he allegedly assaulted another patient as they were buying food from a vending machine.

Police report hospital security broke up a fight and no one was injured.

The suspect was charged with assault and is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
