K9 Unit Sniffs Out B & E Suspect

Chatham-Kent police have now made an arrest after a break-in at a storage facility in Chatham.

The K9 unit was called in after a hole was cut in the fence at Maple City Mini-Storage on Queens Line where police now say not four, but three storage units were entered.

When an employee arrived to work at 4am yesterday, they noticed a stack of stolen property beside the fence hole, presumably for the thief to come back and collect.

K9 officer Arry was able to track a scent to a residence on Queens Line and through investigation police identified a suspect.

A 30-year-old Chatham man was arrested and charged with break and enter and being in possession of stolen property obtained by crime under $5,000. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Police also recovered two bikes.
