Gas Prices Not Following Oil

Chatham-Kent Leamington MP Dave Van Kesteren admits it can be frustrating to see the price of crude oil fall while the price of gasoline barely moves.

However, Van Kesteren says the price is scrutinized.

"There is a competition bureau, there is no party that owns that competition bureau, it operates at arms length from the government and they watch the oil industry continuously," he says. "There's other factors involved, when governments have tried to regulate the price the result has been that prices are even higher."

Van Kesteren adds he's sure all three major parties will be watching the relationship between the price of crude oil and gasoline at the pump.
