Fire Damages Atwood Resources Inc. Again

For the second time in a year, firefighters responded to a working structure fire at Atwood Resources Inc.

Firefighters from Atwood and Monkton were paged just before 9pm Thursday night to the company's newly-rebuilt facility along Hwy. 23, south of Listowel.  Then calls were made to the Listowel station for more firefighters and for an aerial truck.  Tanker trucks were also brought in from Mitchell and Milverton stations.

The cause of the fire is unknown.

The section of Hwy. 23 at the fire scene re-opened to traffic at 1:30am Friday morning.

Fire gutted the same business last year on December 19. The office and truck loading bays of the company were destroyed. Work on a new facility began earlier this year and the latest pictures on the progress were posted to the company's website on December 8.
