Two More Maiden Flights From Windsor (Gallery)

Not one, but two maiden flights to the sunny south are flying out of Windsor's airport on the same day.

Air Transat launched its non-stop service to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic Monday with 138 passengers on board. The service on Mondays continues until April 4, 2016.

Business development manager for Air Transat, Charlotte Antill says some flights are already sold out.

"As soon as we announced that we were doing our Punta Cana outing from Windsor in basically late July -- it kicked off and started booking," she says. "We have some departures that are actually full."

Ali Seblini, his wife and young daughter booked seats on the first flight.

"I don't like connecting flights. I'm going on a vacation, so I like that direct flights. It's easier."

Hector Suarez drove his family from Detroit. He says the low Canadian dollar sealed the deal.

"It's a nicer trip. It's non-stop. It's way cheaper than my flight in Detroit."

Monday afternoon, Sunwing departed on its maiden flight out of Windsor to Cancun, Mexico. Last week, National Airlines launched its bi-weekly service from Windsor to Orlando, Florida.
