Accused Shooter Waiting On Evidence

The defence lawyer for a man accused of shooting and killing one man and wounding another in Windsor, is waiting on the disclosure of evidence before moving forward with his court case.

Dia Hanan, a 32-year-old Windsor man facing first degree murder and attempted murder charges, seemed upbeat when appearing in court via video this morning, shouting "I love you," and waving to friends and family members in the gallery.

Hanan's lawyer, Michael O'Hearn, says that doesn't mean this situation hasn't been hard for him.

"He's got a demeanor, normally, as a happy-go-lucky kind of a guy. But being in jail, charged with a very serious offense is tough on a person," says O'Hearn.

Alekesji Guzhavin, a 30-year-old man from London, was shot and killed on December 23 at a residence in the at 100-block of Oak St.

The other victim in the shooting, 35-year-old Greg Henriquez, is recovering at Windsor Regional Hospital. His condition was upgraded from critical to serious on Tuesday.

Hanan will appear in court again January 7, via video.
