Ridgetown Campus Seeks Funding

The University of Guelph Ridgetown Campus wants to grow, but needs help from Chatham-Kent.

Officials are looking to build a $15 million Sustainable Crop Research & Innovation Centre. The facility will contain scientific labs, seed preparation and cold storage areas. as well as greenhouse growth chambers.

In addition to replacing facilities that are more than 50 years old, officials hope to attract new researchers and students to the Ridgetown Campus.

They`ll ask for $1.5 million from Chatham-Kent at Monday`s council meeting, adding their support is important in leveraging other key investments. The university hopes to break ground in two and a half years.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
