Pedestrian Struck By Vehicle, 14-Year-Old Killed

A 14-year-old boy is dead following a crash near Bothwell.

Chatham-Kent police say two 14-year-old boys, one of them on foot and the other on a bike, were struck by an eastbound Pontiac Montana van shortly after 6pm yesterday on Longwoods Rd., east of West Bothwell Rd.

The boy who was walking was transported to Four Counties hospital in Newbury and pronounced dead shortly afterwards.

Police say the boy on the bike was clipped by the vehicle and knocked to the ground, but was transported to hospital with only minor injuries.

The driver, a 52-year-old Wardsville man, was not injured.

Longwoods Rd. reopened around 1am.

The incident is still under investigation and no names have been released.
