After a three game losing skid, the Chatham Maroons downed the Strathroy Rockets 5-4 in double overtime on Wednesday.
The Maroons were off to a slow start with the Rockets taking a 1-0 lead in the first period. A back and forth second period that both teams score three goals, keeping Strathroy in the lead. However, Devin Panzeca as able to score for the Maroons in the third to tie the game and force OT.
After no scoring in the first overtime period, it was Panzeca who scored again with the game winner.
He says it was a hard fought game.
"I thought it was a good game all around by the guys," he says. "[Strathroy] is a good team, they gave us a good battle,. They're really hard working and it was a tough game all the way through."
The Maroons face the St. Marys Lincolns next on Friday at 7:30pm.
