Border Agents Seize Casino Winnings, Horse

The Canada Border Services Agency in the southern Ontario region say in the last half of 2015, it seized 184lbs in cocaine, $100,000 in undeclared artwork and a horse.

Border agents seized the horse at the Ambassador Bridge in October.

Agents figured out it wasn't being brought into Canada for a medical procedure as stated, but had been sold and was being delivered to its new owner. The horse and the vehicle were released after the driver paid a fine of $14,284.

Border guards also seized 59 firearms, 121 prohibited weapons and $430,470 in currency seizures including the casino winnings of a Toronto man who failed to declare it.

In November, agents at the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel charged an Illinois man after they seized an undeclared assault rifle, a handgun, a taser and a loaded, large capacity magazine. He'll appear in court February 22.

The artwork, which includes porcelain from China and paintings, was seized at the Queenston Bridge in Niagara Falls.

Across the southern Ontario region, agents seized 115 firearms, the highest in Canada between July and December of last year.
