Junior Hockey Wrap Up - February 9, 2016

In Great Lakes Junior C Hockey League playoff action, the Essex 73's are on the verge of sweeping the Alvinston Flyers in the first round.

The 73's won Game 3 with a third straight shutout of the Flyers, winning 6-0 on Tuesday night. Phil Janikowski, Tyler Boughner and Max Viselli all had two-point games in the win.

The Amherstburg Admirals needed overtime to be the Wheatley Sharks as Kasey Basile scored the overtime winner with James Brooks and Marshal Laing picking up the assists. The Admirals lead the first round series 3-0.

Another 5-4 result in Junior C play Tuesday night, except this time in regulation, as the Lakeshore Canadiens topped the Mooretown Flags to take a 2-0 first round series lead.

Mejoe Gasparovic had a hattrick in the win, but Sebastian Kanally would get the eventual game winner for the Canadiens.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
