Jewellery Heist Forcing Store Changes

The owner of Affinity Distinctive Jewellery says changes are in store at the Chatham retail outlet after $25,000 in jewellery was stolen on Thursday.

Brent Denure says modifications to how people are let into the store and how goods are showcased will have to be made after the incident.

"Thefts happen," says Denure. "People are desperate. It's not my first rodeo, it's just disappointing. I feel bad for my colleagues that had to deal with it and I feel bad for myself because it's a hassle and a distraction I didn't ask for."

Denure says it was a bad day at the store.

"We just went into a mode where my colleagues were a little bit traumatized by the shocking event and we just wanted to calm them down and reiterate the fact that nobody was hurt," says Denure. "As unfortunate and devastating as it was, it could've been a lot worse."

Shortly after 5pm on Thursday, $25,000 in diamond rings were taken from the Chatham jewellery store. Police arrested a man and a woman, both from Windsor, and laid charges related to the robbery at the jewellery store.
