Puppy Shot 19 Times

The head of the London Humane Society calls it "disturbing."

A puppy shot 19 times with a pellet gun was recently found by the side of the road in the Lucan area.

Humane Society executive director Judy Foster says an x-ray showed the pellets were lodged in the puppy's head, neck, and various spots in the lower body. Fortunately, none of them penetrated vital organs.

"We don't believe this puppy was shot at one time," says Foster. "We believe this happened over a couple of times. We want to make sure if someone is doing this and doing this to more than this dog we want to get them identified and get this stopped. We don't want to see this kind of animal abuse in our community."

The Humane Society is asking for the public's help identifying who may be behind this act of cruelty.

"We are all shaken and puzzled as to why something like this would be done to any dog, but especially a puppy. It's very disturbing," says Foster.

Foster says the pellets will be removed. She says a family has already come forward to adopt the puppy once it completes its recovery.
