OFSAA Hockey Tournament Bringing Influx To Windsor

Windsor-Essex is set to host the top 16 boys high school hockey teams in Ontario.

The OFSAA tournament goes from March 7-10, and will be played at South Windsor Arena and the Vollmer Complex in LaSalle.

Tournament Convenor John Talerico says the area should see an influx of thousands of people.

"A lot of times (the players') family members will come to a tournament of this magnitude," he explains. "There are already 200 hotel rooms booked."

Talerico says this is the first time Windsor's hosted the OFSAA boys hockey tournament.

As hosts, St. Thomas of Villanova will automatically get to play. Talerico expects another entry from Windsor-Essex, and a team from Lambton-Kent as well.

Tickets will be available in the lobbies of both arenas.
