UPDATE: Winter Storm Watch Issued

Environment Canada has issued a winter storm watch for most of southern Ontario warning of a potential snowstorm for Tuesday.

A low pressure system developing over the southern United States will head towards the Lower Great Lakes on Monday.   This is expected to bring significant snowfall Tuesday and Tuesday night.

Weather officials say this type of storm can bring 15 to 30cm of heavy snow and possibly some freezing rain and ice pellets. Exact snowfall amounts will depend upon the exact track of the developing storm.

Drivers are being warned that travel conditions could rapidly deteriorate.

The winter storm watch is in effect for Chatham-Kent, Windsor-Essex, London-Middlesex, Sarnia-Lambton and all of Midwestern Ontario.

A previous special weather statement has ended.
