Winter Storm Skims Region

Environment Canada says a winter storm system that started Tuesday and continued overnight only just grazed Windsor-Essex and Chatham-Kent.

Desjanelle Matthews says it started with freezing rain Tuesday afternoon.

"Then it quickly turned to ice pellets, then snow by evening," she says. "Then there were several hours of snow, so by 1am it looks like there was at least 6 cm."

She says further north, in the Grand Bend area, regions saw upwards of 20-30 cm of snow.

Matthews is also advising drivers to take extra caution this morning, with lake affect snow and snow squalls along the Great Lakes.

Environment Canada is calling for a 40% chance of flurries Wednesday morning and again Thursday night.
