UPDATE: One Hospitalized After Hwy. 401 Crash

Police have reopened the westbound lanes of Hwy. 401 following a crash near Lakeshore that sent one person to hospital.

The Ontario Provincial Police say on Thursday around 7pm, a Dodge Neon was travelling in the westbound lanes, just west of Essex County Rd. 27 when it struck the centre cement median.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was taken to hospital to be treated for serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The westbound lanes have since been reopened at Essex County Rd. 27 (Belle River Rd.).

Police say the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
