Police close Queen St. in the area of Eugenie St. after reports of someone with a gun. (Photo by Lachlan Kennedy)A case of miscommunication and mistaken identity led to a brief standoff in Chatham on Monday morning.
Around 10:30am officers were called to the area of Eugenie St. and Queen St. after a passerby believed someone was holding a gun out an apartment window.
The area was secured and by 10:50am officers were able to determine there was no firearm, but rather someone holding a cell phone trying to get a better wi-fi signal.
The situation was resolved without incident.
People in southern Huron and Lambton counties are being told to limit their time outside.
