Shrewsbury Maple Syrup Festival

Residents of Shrewsbury are ready for the beginning of spring with their fourth maple syrup festival today, and the syrup is as close to home they could get.

Organizer Ken Bell says it is real Shrewsbury syrup.

"Residents have kindly donated their trees to be tapped," he says. "Giffin's Maple Products have boiled all that sap into delicious Shrewsbury maple syrup."

Volunteers serve up pancakes and syrup at the community centre until noon with proceeds helping maintain the centre.

Anyone interested in learning more about the production process can visit Sinclair Bush to see how trees are tapped and learn more about bush itself.

Giffin's sugar barn is also admitting visitors to demonstrate boiling sap into sugar.
