Charges Laid In Walpole Island Standoff

A Walpole Island man has now been charged following a ten-hour standoff.

Walpole Island police were called to a house on Firehall Rd. March 20 at around 1am for a break and enter as well as assault with a weapon.

OPP also responded and that's when they say two men fled the area. One of the suspects was arrested, but the other barricaded himself inside a house.

Just after 11am he was taken into custody without incident.

The 51-year-old is charged with multiple counts, including assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes and failure to comply with probation.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
