Court Appearance On Murder Charge

During a brief court appearance this morning a charge of first degree murder against a Blenheim man was put over for a week.

Walter Ardis, 78, who is in the infirmary at the Windsor Jail appeared frail as he repeated his name to the Justice of the Peace.

His next court appearance will be April 12 to allow disclosure.

Ardis was arrested Friday after his wife's body was discovered in their burned out Blenheim home on Nichols Dr. in March.

Police haven't released the cause of death but did say at the time it wasn't caused by the fire.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
