Grenade Found At Chatham Home

The Department of National Defence had to be called to a Chatham home after a resident found a grenade on his property.

Chatham-Kent police say they responded to a McNaughton Ave. E. home around 10am Saturday. They say a man, who recently moved to the residence, was cleaning the property when he found an old-looking grenade with the firing pin removed.

The Department of National Defence took the grenade without incident.

Police tell BlackburnNews.com people often find "unexploded ordinances," and keep them. No charges have been laid and officers won't be investigating further.
