Child Killed Near Thamesville Identified

Chatham-Kent police are releasing the name of a 4-year-old boy who died after being hit by a pickup truck on Smoke Line near Thamesville.

Martin Guenther was taken to hospital around 7pm on Sunday night but later died of his injuries.

Investigators say the young boy was playing with friends in a ditch near his home when he ran onto the road, in front of a Ford F150 pickup truck.

The truck was being driven by a 55-year-old man who has not been identified.

No charges have been laid, yet police state the investigation is on-going.

An online obituary says the boy was one of four children. Visitation will take place on Wednesday night in Dresden and he will be laid to rest on Thursday afternoon in Camden Township.
