Man Stabbed In Leamington Brawl

A Wheatley man was stabbed during a large brawl in Leamington early Saturday morning.

The Ontario Provincial Police say they responded to 11 Queen St. in Leamington around 1am, where two people had been removed from a bar for fighting.

The OPP say the argument spilled out into the parking lot, where as many as 12 people were reported fighting. Police says bricks were thrown in the brawl, and one person brandished a knife before police were able to break up the fight.

During the brawl, a 23-year-old Wheatley man was stabbed in the stomach. He was taken to hospital for non-life threatening injuries, and has since been released.

Following an investigation, police arrested 31-year-old Jermaine Gordon of Leamington man and charged him with assault with a weapon.

Leamington OPP are still looking for witnesses to the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact Leamington OPP or the Essex County Crime Unit.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
