New Maroons Coach

The Chatham Maroons have announced that Brian Verbeek is taking over the position of head coach effective immediately.

A news release from the organization says Tyler Roeszler, who recently resigned as head coach, was offered a position as associate coach and that the team had hoped to retain the coaching staff from the past season. However Roszler, along with Jeff MacDougald and Bino Pereira decided not to return.

Verbeek has a hockey career that took him to the OHL, IHL, and several leagues in Europe.

He also has ties to both the Chatham Maroons and the NHL. Brian Verbeek's son Hayden played 35 games for the Chatham Maroons during the 2013-2014 GOJHL season, putting up eight goals and 19 assists during that time.

Brian's older brother Pat Verbeek played for several teams in the NHL including the Detroit Red Wings.
