Ex-Girlfriend Dragged By Truck

A 20-year-old Dover Township man is charged with dangerous driving after allegedly peeling out of a parking lot with his ex-girlfriend still reaching into the passenger side of his truck.

Chatham-Kent police report around 12:30am on May 20, a man went to his ex-girlfriend's home in Wallaceburg to get some of his belongings.

The woman met him in the parking lot and opened the passenger door of his truck to grab some of her things he was returning. The man remained in the driver's seat as she placed some of his clothing in the truck.

Police say as she was placing his clothes back in the truck the man allegedly revved up the engine and sped off — leaving about 8 m of skid marks on the pavement from the acceleration.

The woman was dragged about 15 ft by the truck as she was still reaching in. Police report she suffered minor injuries, but didn't seek medical attention.

Officers found and arrested the suspect around 9:20pm on Tuesday in Wallaceburg. He remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
