Early Start For Retrofest

Retrofest attendees will get the chance to start the fun early this year.

As part of their "Sweet 16" celebration, Retrofest organizers say activities at Tecumseh Park will get underway at 11am Friday. Vendors, a beverage garden and music will all be on hand at Tecumseh Park, ahead of the Classic Car Cruise at 6pm.

In years past, Retrofest has normally kicked off with the cruise, but that left for less time in the downtown park.

"It was really hard to get people to come to the downtown on the Sunday after the cars left," says the Downtown Chatham BIA's Nancy Labadie. "So we've decided to invite them into the downtown, before [the cars] even arrive."

A crew from the TV show "My Classic Car" along with host Dennis Gage will be filming at Retrofest this weekend. For more on Retrofest activities, click here.
