CKHA Welcomes Respirologist

The Chatham-Kent Health Alliance now has a lung specialist.

Dr. Javaria Sohaib is the only Respirologist in the community, and deals with lung problems.

"That would be asthma, airway disease, COPD, bronchiolitis," says Dr. Sohaib. "Or patients with lung cancer, we diagnose them and stage them, and then see if they're fit for surgery or what sort of treatment they would need."

She says she would recommend Chatham-Kent to any doctor.

"Working in a rural setting is way more gratifying," says Dr. Sohaib. "Reason being you're really making some changes. I think people would find it very gratifying to move here and serve the patient populations."

She says Chatham-Kent has been very welcoming and the hospital environment is very collegial.

Dr. Sohaib completed her residency training in Internal Medicine at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. She did her post-graduate fellowship in Respirology at the University of Calgary.
