Humane Society Investigating Puppy Mill

A number of dogs are now in the care of the Windsor/Essex County Humane Society after being found in "filthy conditions."

It's being labelled a puppy mill investigation and it began Thursday when the humane society received a tip, as BlackburnNews.com told you first Friday.

A search warrant was executed Friday at a home on Bonita St., a trailer park in south Windsor off Division Rd. A Windsor police officer also accompanied animal officers on scene.

Six dogs and one puppy were removed to "relieve their distress." All of the dogs are in the care of the humane society veterinary team.

Humane society officers are also investigating six other dogs at various locations in Windsor and Tecumseh, which resemble the removed dogs found in "extremely poor condition."

We're told no charges have been laid at this point.
