Assault, Weapons Charges After Fight

A 24-year-old Chatham man is facing assault and weapons charges after police report a fight between brothers.

Chatham-Kent police report in the early morning hours on Saturday, a man went to a home on Lacroix St. in Chatham.

Police say the man confronted his brother regarding an earlier incident and a fight allegedly ensued. Police say the brother ran down to the basement, but was cornered with the accused allegedly holding a knife and swinging his fists.

The victim was able to leave the house and contact police.

The man charged has been released pending a court date on June 29.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
