Lottery Winner In Chatham

Six proved to be the lucky number for Chatham's Yvonne Nelmes.

She won $100,000 with ENCORE, matching six of seven winning numbers.

"I usually purchase my lottery tickets from the same retailer every Friday," says Nelmes. "I check my numbers online the day after the draw. My daughter also checked the numbers and told me to go to the corner store right away."

Nelmes shared the good news with her brother before collecting her winnings.

"He asked me how much I won and I whispered, '$100,000,'" she says. "He said, 'Speak up!' Because he couldn't believe what he was hearing."

Nelmes says she'll keep $25,000 and share the rest with loved ones including her daughter and grand-daughter.

"I am very close with her," says Nelmes. "We travel together all the time so I know some of my win will go to a fantastic vacation."

The winning ticket was bought at Ken's Variety on Vanier Dr. in Chatham.
