Steelers Cut Suisham

Wallaceburg's Shaun Suisham is out of a job.

The NFL kicker has been released by the Pittsburgh Steelers under the designation of a "Failed Physical."

He missed the entire 2015 season after sustaining a knee injury while he was trying to make a tackle in a pre-season game on August 9, 2015 against the Minnesota Vikings.

In a release on the Steelers' website, the team's General manager Kevin Colbert said, "Unfortunately Shaun incurred a setback in his recovery from knee surgery that won’t allow him to compete in a timely manner."

Shortly after the news came down that the Steelers cut the 34-year-old NFL veteran from their roster, Suisham released a statement to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

In that statement, Suisham said his "journey in the NFL has come to a crossroads."

He also told the Tribune-Review, “Undoubtedly, I will miss the challenge of game day and the preparation that is required. Change is hard, but I'm comfortable with where I am in life as a husband and father.”

Suisham signed a four year contract extension with the Steelers in August 2014 worth $12.575-million. Under that contract, he was set to make $2.4-million this season.
