LKDSB Searches For Host Families

The Lambton-Kent District School Board is looking for families in the Tilbury, Wallaceburg and Forest area to host international students next year.

The board's exchange program is once again expanding this school year, with new students from Italy, Spain, Taiwan and Thailand earning scholarships to study in Canada.

International Education Administrator Kirsten Ramsay says this will be the first year global students will be studying in these three communities.

"Some communities are not as used to having international students. We will be placing some students from Spain there, and we don't have any homestay families in those areas at this point in time," says Ramsay.

She adds interested hosts should be ready to welcome in a new member of their family.

"Our international students are looking for families willing to include them in their day-to-day activities... such as family get-togethers, maybe watching a kid's hockey game, etc.," says Ramsay.

The international education administrator adds families don't have to have children in the LKDSB system to apply. For more information, you can email Ramsay at Kirsten.Ramsay@lkdsb.net.
