List Of Changes For Chatham Transit

CK Transportation is looking to address redundancies and wait times with Chatham's transit system.

That's why they've introduced a number of changes, including removing 47 stops, and moving other stops to high traffic areas.

Director of Transportation Adam Sullo says these include the WISH Centre, VIA rail station and, notably, the Walmart on St. Clair St.

"Currently it's right in the middle of a parking lot, it's not very well defined," says Sullo. "The stop will be right in front of the store, we're hoping that will be in place within the next two months.

In terms of route changes, Chatham's Southwest route will now dip down Keil Dr. at Park Ave., returning to the street at Wedgewood Ave. In some cases, like McFarlane Ave. at St. Clair St., as well as Heritage Dr. at Keil Dr., designated turning lanes will be installed.

"The buses aren't running on time when they need to, this is trying to alleviate some of that, by removing stops and adjusting some of the routes," says Sullo.

Riders will know if their stop is being removed through signage on the buses, and the stops themselves. The changes should fully come into effect by October.
