Jobless Rate Steady In Windsor

Statistics Canada reports no change in Windsor's unemployment rate last month compared to May.

It held steady at 6.4%.

The lowest rate in the country is in Quebec City, Quebec at 4.1%, while Saguenay, Quebec had the highest at 8.7%.

The provincial unemployment rate fell slightly to 6.4% in June from 6.6% in May.

Canada's unemployment rate dipped to 6.8% from 6.9% in May. The national economy lost a net total of 700 jobs last month, a number that's considered statistically insignificant.

Participation in the national labour force was 65.5% last month, down two-tenths of a percent.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
