What To Do As Canada Post Lockout Looms

The Government of Canada says on it's website that Canada Post has still agreed to deliver socio-economic cheques on the 20th of the month.

That includes child tax benefits, disability benefits, Old Age Security Pension, Canada Pension Plan benefits or veteran benefits.

In the meantime, the government says you should sign-up for direct deposit for all other payments.

As for Ontario Works Cheques -- the city has arranged for you to pick them up.

If you've done some online shopping, it really depends on how the company ships. Amazon.ca, for instance, is planning to use alternative delivery carriers.

Even though you won't be able to drop off mail, you'll still have to pay that Internet bill on time.

Cogeco states on its website, as well as pretty much every bank, that you should sign up for e-billing to access both your bill and make payments.
