Five Taken To Hospital For Drug Overdose

Police are investigating after five people were taken to hospital to be treated for drug overdoses during the Sombra Bridge Bash.

The Ontario Provincial Police say on Saturday, officers were kept busy at the event on the St. Clair River in St. Clair Township, especially after they were notified that five people were in medical distress.

The five victims who ranged from 17 to 23 years old, had to be taken to hospital after ingesting the drug known as Ecstasy or Methylenedioxy-methamphetamine (MDMA). Police say their situations were non-life threatening.

The OPP are continuing to investigate to try and determine the source of the illegal drugs.
